Gentlemen (and ladies),
I am searching for 6 degree caster spring shims for my 80 j4. Before I try and order from the USA, I was hoping someone sells them here. Does anyone know?
I am also looking for an ashtray.
I understand german but to write it would be a disaster.

Thanks Peter!
I think the shims need to be about 7cm wide. I will measure YJ springs tomorrow to figure out how close they are. Again, thanks.
Yes I live in Germany. I live in a kuhkaff between Alzey and Mainz. And you?
I would send some pictures but all of them will be in the driveway or werkstadt. After I get the shims and a Currie Antirock for the rear, I should be set. You can check out www.street-n-race.com to see a little more about how I built it. The white things on top are a weather station with display mounted in dash. My brother and I used to wait for the worst storms in Colorado to go out four wheeling. Eventually we wanted to see how hard the storms were so it grew into mounting weather staions in our rides. But dont worry, its removable. Oh yeah, I put in power steering too.

This is great information.
I would very much like to stay in touch. I will try to get up into your neighborhood here in the near future.
A freind of mine does metal work for his job. His boss is pretty strict with making private work. I will have to try. My firend wont drink budweiser (kinderbier) but I am sure some rhoihessewoi may do the trick.
I want to set up curry in the rear mainly for road manners but also able to take corners better at speed. I raised the center of gravity about 6-8 zoll. the curry should bring back the stability without affecting articulation too much. I did all of my 4 wheelin in the mountains. More a mixture of rocks and dirt roads (with really deep ledges on the side of the road). Too much sway makes for a not-so-fun drive on these roads. Building this truck, I wanted to combine some of the lessens of Europe with the lessons from Colorado.
I will have to decline on the 55 stabilizer but I am always looking for parts. I have quite a few laying around myself. I am, however, still looking for an ashtray. Such a small and funny thing but that big hole in the dashboad is hard to see past.
I went to the site FJ40 GARAGE and seen many beautiful LCs. Did you build these? If so you have a gifted talent. I have some build concepts myself and would gladly share them when I visit. I'll bring some rheinhessenwein (I have a small export company www.rwwe.com)

Hi Gruis,
Deutsche zu schreiben is verdammt schwer fur mich. Ich verstehe fast alles was geschrieben sind und angesprochen sind. Schreiben gehts ganz ganz slim. Probiern tu ich immer.
My friends- My german is very bad. Does the german language really need so many verbs? just joking |

Peter my friend!I am glad to hear from you again. That was too lustig! I understood jedes wort exactly like you geshrieben hast. I was laughing so loud my wife came into the room. Very Cool!
The dreimännerwein sounds perfect. I wont need so much. Ich bin ja gewohnt with amifusel
Thank you for looking for those shims and more for giving me the dimension. My kumpel is going to build the shims for me. But I gave him only 10mm for the hole in the middle. I will ask him to make 15mm. I have to go 6 grad winkle because of shackle length.
Ich bin nervous of the centerbolts sowieso. My blattfederns are australian made. If the technique is anything like their language I can expect too have some problems. I havent replaced centerbolts before. This should be fun. In the USA leaf springs are not so expensive so I would just buy a new set (immer hoher naturlish)
I was in Schweinfurt (Pig Town) this week. Die leit do nunna babble funny. Als typish auslander Imade a mistake.
I said "So this is Bayern" to some guys in the kneipe.
They answered (with anger) "We are not Bayern here".
I said "Tut mir leid I forgot this area is proud Saxons"
Saxons / Frankens. Needless to say, They made a big explanation to correct me and teach me the history of the Germanen.
I was lucky they did not hear me say . "Es war kleine fehler lässtermaul"
If you have some tips for the spring bolts please share them.
Im glad to hear from you again. Auch ja, zank you wery much |
