Hi ljokjell,
you´re welcome!
nice cruiser!
Toyota Land Cruiser LJ73 1987, 2L-T, OME 2"
33"x12,5"x15" BF-G AT 15"x10" white spoke

you should use "Bikini Top" or "Soft Top" as keyword for your search also in germany.
There are always offers in german printmedias like "4wheelfun" or "offroad" for Suzuki´s and BJ40/42 -yoats -
Searchmachine i.e. www.google.de

Hi there!
I had (still have) this project on my to-do-list... So far i have not found any 3rd supplier, who has a soft-top for my J73. Only way is to find a used one at Ebay. But you never know in what shape it is, and if really ALL rails, screws and other parts are included in the offer. In my repair-manual it looks quite complicated...
Also for the bikini-top i was looking a long time - but really noone ever has built any likely in series. So i think, i will have to search for a saddler to manufacture me a handmade one.
If you need something like a scanned page out of the repair-manual, then send me a short email.
Bye

I bought one last year from a colleague who´s sold his LJ73 a few years ago.
Even as my softtop came complete, even included all screws and that stuff, I´m not completely happy with it.
In the first line, as it is required to drill holes in the car-body for accurate fit. In the back doors, the overrun-bar, the windscreen-frame. No way, as my Cruiser got a paint-job last year and I am not willing to do drill any hole.
The pipe-construction, which carries the canvas, is crap. And it looks like crap, too. So, I´m going to invent some new one.
What I want to say: You´ll never know what you buy, and maybe you spent a lot of money for trash.
I would suggest to ask a good saddlery (we call this handcrafters that way, don´t know how cabrio-roofmanufacturers are named in english) to make a new soft roof for your rig. This could be a lot more easy, as your buddy already has a softtop, which you could use as a pattern. |
