Hallo zusammen,
Frage: Yesterday I parked mij LC and the Link Joint Knob (see picture) got lose. Now it is easy to mount it again, but is this not risky? Is there a change that it might happen again? And what is the reason that it happened in the first place?
I have a an original manual, so to fix it is no problem. But I don't understand the construction.
grüßen und dank tasmo
PS dieses Jahr nicht nach der Buschtaxi treffen, aber nachste Jahr: Sicher.

Ideal solution is to change the whole rod. If Link Joint Knob has fallen, that means wear are high. or pills (Ball Stud Seat) are used or are not close enough. Tries put back Link Joint Knob and adjust everything with Plug.
My advice... buy the new one...
something like this: http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net/tierodenfj62.html
All best,

Max, thank you. You are right. Yesterday evening I dismanteld the rod. There was massive wear. Reason, (I think), the former mechanic, who repaired it, forgot to put in the cotter pin. On the other hand, the dust seal wasn't that good.
Today I wil go to find me a new one.
Stil my quostion remains: what is the reason for this construction? Why not a normal balljoint?
Any way, Max thanks for the answer .

The reason for that is built so is to atenuate shocks side of direction to protect the steering box. When you get kicks in the side wheel.
You can see the spring inside de rod.
Sorry for my bad english |

Max,
You're english is better than my Romanian So, no problem.
And again thanx for the answer.
Today I went to the Toyota dealer, and ordered the relay rod completly (45045-60H04).
Completely because it was worn out and because the dealer was not sure if all the parts piece by piece were available.
So 101,72 euro without tax, which is 121,05 euro including tax.
I was thinking? Where do you normally buy these parts? And does anyone buy these parts via the internet?
Greetings tasmo |
