Hey Tom,
Check out the post above yours. We're now back in the USA since the end of March when Covid started working on editing the video we took while we were there. We put the date that each video was shot in the description of the vid on Youtube.
Nice 80 series by the way.

Tim

This week we explore the high desert of Argentina and find ourselves in an area eerily similar to Arizona.

We catch up with some friends in the Northern wine region and then decide to head to an uncharted area of Argentina with some interesting canyons to get lost. We found what may have been our favorite campsite of the trip.

A do-it-yourself product in the 60s-80s, made by brave housewives and most time an epitome of bourgeoisie. Now a cult accessory for vintage cars (preferred german) und available everywhere.

Very nice video, once again - thanks!
I really enjoyed watching it, with your happiness about the beautiful & calm camping spot.
(I also like seeing an 80series driving around all the time...)

Cheers, Jochen

I love those landscapes. I see them with a little bit different view, cause i once studied geology.
It reminded me of the badlands in Utah, SD or Wyoming, and yes, Argentina is mentioned in the same article about badlands in wiki.

Thanks Jochen, we miss that area. We loved how easy it was to get lost and away from people. :D

We often talk to each other about how we wish we'd taken more Geology classes. We have some books and listened to some audio books about the areas we drive through. The stratigraphy is amazing!
Funny how a place on the other side of the world can look a lot like one just down the street, but is somehow also completely different.

Yeah, it's interesting and funny. You know the german Rhine Massif/ belgian Ardennen roughly belong to the same age-old mountain system as the Appalachian Mountains. They even look similar and have coal. A time when north america and europe collided.

This week we head deeper into the Altiplano after the last fuel stop for a few days on our way toward a large ghost town.

This week we use all our fuel range to make it to Mina La Casualidad in the Altiplano. There's some really interesting history at this abandoned town.

We're racing the Baja 1000. We've been racing for just over 20 years, but since we started saving for the trip we haven't raced (since 2017). An opportunity came up to navigate over 300 miles of the race with an old friend so we jumped at the chance.
Prerunning starts tomorrow, race day is Friday. Armchair racing info attached:
