Hi all,
Can somebody tell me how much weight I'm allowed to put on the roof of a 1987 HJ-61 (according to the Owners Manual) ?
Thanks in advance,
Staff.

Hmmm....
I just went through the whole thing, and I didn't find anything on the roof load. In the index at the end there are no entries for load, cargo, roof...
I think it was 100 or 150 kg, but I don't remember where I got that from, and I can't guarantee that my memory is correct.
All the best from Finland,
Laplander

Hi Staff,
As far as I know it is 100 K but....
I drove my hj60 straight through Africa with
roofrack, steel 40 k
rooftoptent 40 k
two complete sets of 7.50R16 45k
4 sandladders 50k
goodybox 15k
dust.
Makes it 175 to 200 K and no worries, all the rackbrackets broke but that was a design error, after welding the thing worked very well.
I know one should not carry that much load on the roof but it is very possible
greetz from the low countries,
Bertje

Hi,
my 1982 and 1983 HJ 60 models allowed 200 kg on the roof. Can't imagine that this should be different for your car.
Check for yourself in Google: "HJ 60 + Dachlast" and you will find this information confirmed.
But I needn't tell you which risks you are running with a top-heavy car under extreme conditions, do I ?
Best regards
Gerhard

Hi all,
Thanks for the info. I only want to put a roofrack, a rooftoptent and a light table on the roof, so this shouldn't be a problem.
Again, thanks,
Staff.
