Beitrag von Old Tusker »

My name is Clive Randall; I have recently joined the Buschtaxi (Old Tusker). I am the owner of a 1994, 80 series (J8) Toyota LandCruiser which I acquired 3 years ago after having never ending problems with classic Range Rovers, my greatest regret is not getting a Toyota LandCruiser in the beginning. Since purchasing my LC I have installed Iron Man 2” suspension lift, an ARB winch bar & running 16” wheels with 275 x 75 x R16 BFG/ AT tyres. I am at present refurbishing all the doors due to attack from the rustbug.
My German I’m afraid is not up to much, but hopefully over a period of time I shall become more conversant with the language whereby I can glean more information from the forums. I am hoping to attend the Buschtaxi gathering in September 2014 and where I can meet some fellow members. I dearly hope my German improved by this time, I’m sure a little sampling of the local brew may improve my linguistic talents to a certain degree. :P

Hello Clive and welcome to the Forum. 8)

Lesson learned the hard way, as i read from your posting, got rid of the Rovers and life will go on with clean hands and a pristine driveway now. ;-)
Glad to see that we get some members from all over europe that join in person at the yearly meeting.

Enjoy your 80 !

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your kind welcome. Yes I certainly learned my lessons with the Rovers, there is no turning back.
Some years ago while working in Ghana, we had all Toyota's and one Land Rover, guess who ended up with the Land Rover!!!
Anyway those times have passed and luckely I have ended up with the 80. :D

Greetings from the Yorkshire Moors

Clive

Hello Clive,

welcome to our forum! It exists for two reasons:

    1. Our TOYOTAS do fail from time to time - maybe, less frequently than other vehicles, and for more enigmatic and challenging causes.

    2. Friedrich Schiller was right:
"Nur der Irrtum ist das Leben,
und das Wissen ist der Tod."

Looking forward to reading your contributions,

don Matías.

Wow,
"enigmatic", "pristine", was Ihr alles für ein Vokabular habt!
Ich muss dauernd ins dict.cc hineinschauen, nur alleine, um Eure Willkommenheissungen zu verstehen.

Hi Clive,
you are certainly a rare species - going abroad into a forum with foreign language.
Welcome and please contribute! E.g. with cool price / dealer informations about J8 parts...

For sure we will meet at the next BTT gathering - but it is not easy to spot people there. Here is a pic of me and my J8 in France 10/2013 - for you as reference.

Cheers, Jochen

Gents, I admire your ability in comprehending the english language, this I'm afraid puts my little knowledge of German to shame.
@JFK how right you are with regards to identifying foreign number plates, this will come in handy when I get to the BTT camp.

@Jochen, it's a very nice looking 80 you have. Did you meet a friend of mine with a green 100 series at the last BTT camp??

Hello Clive,

do you mean the British Offroad-Lady with the Austrian husband and a dog?
Yes of course, we had 1-2 chats during the BTT - a very friendly, relaxed and humorous couple - please send them my regards!

Initially, I was attracted by the way they had structured their roof rack - incl. tent, boxes etc.
Also, they had a smart living interior in their car - I needed inspiration as I was about to finish my "furniture".

Cool connection! Best regards,
Jochen
