I have been very p*ssed off with my J12 (2/2008) EXEC touch screen navi. 90% of the functions are grayed out when the car is moving which makes the thing more or less useless.

However, there is an easy and cheap (=free!) solution for it.

Either find somebody with the latest discs or go ...

Went to local dealer today to read the fault code: "Vehicle speed sensor"

After reading the fault code (not clearing!) the lights went off and did not come back (yet?).

No idea what was wrong. Does anybody know where is the speed sensor so I can check the connectors? And no, the local dealer ...

Just got my second J12. The first was 12/2002 and this is now 2/2008 Exec with TEMS & Navi.

With the first one no problems ever, but the new one lasted <3.000 km and <3 weeks until the first trouble.

The orange "engine failure" light turned on 100m after start and a few seconds ...

These are all via GSM so only useful if there is coverage.
